Magnet Schools of America (MSA) has notified Weaver Lake: A Science, Math & Technology School that it has met the criteria to be recognized as a Nationally Certified Magnet School for the next four years.
“The staff did a lot of work to ensure that we continue to be able to be nationally recognized,” said Lena Christiansen, principal of Weaver Lake.
MSA said it created a national certification process in order to recognize the most exemplary magnet schools in the nation and to help them as they continue to grow and provide high-quality, innovative curriculum and instructional programs. The process is based on the five pillars of magnet schools and the National Magnet School Standards of Excellence.
“As a Nationally Certified Magnet School, your school has demonstrated through evidence, reflection, and strategic action, that you have established the Standards of Excellence in your school and fulfilled a commitment to your community stakeholders,” said Kelly Bucherie, director for the National Institute for Magnet School Leadership. “Being recognized as a Nationally Certified Magnet School is a tremendous honor and accomplishment.”
