Maple Grove Middle School presents spring musical, “Something Rotten”
Maple Grove Middle School’s spring musical kept the auditorium alive with music and laughter over the weekend, with four runs of the show, called Something Rotten, taking place from April 10-12.
Something Rotten highlights and pokes fun at all the amazing things that make a musical, a musical. Set during the Renaissance period, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of Renaissance rock star William Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, the brothers set out to write the world’s very first musical. Over 90 MGMS students took part in the production.
“I love the story and the comedy,” said Keiara Blomberg, an actress in the show. “The comedy in this show is just so funny. It’s overall just really fun.”
