Why Choose Weaver Lake STEM
Weaver Lake Elementary: A Science, Math & Technology School is an award-winning, nationally-certified magnet school that serves over 630 students in prekindergarten through fifth grade. Our rigorous curriculum integrates STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) concepts in all subject areas and allows students to participate in value-added projects at each grade level.
At Weaver Lake, our students have rich learning opportunities through inquiry-based, hands-on science and math activities. We provide an environment where students, teachers and families find the scientists in themselves through simulation, exploration and discovery.
Weaver Lake enrolls students through a lottery system run by the Northwest Suburban Integration School District (NWSISD).

Comprehensive STEM education
Our rigorous STEM curriculum is aligned with both state and national standards. Technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the curriculum and the use of innovative instructional strategies is evident in every classroom.
Weaver Lake scholars at all grade levels engage in value-added projects that are real world investigations with practical applications and achievable outcomes. Our educators use hands-on experiences, problem solving, justification of thinking through science notebooks, and other techniques to personalize learning for each child.
Beyond the classroom
At Weaver Lake, learning extends beyond the traditional classroom. Our two outdoor classrooms, a student-planted prairie and close proximity to a nature center provide exceptional opportunities for students to explore, investigate and discover.
In addition, schoolwide events such as a STEM in Action Fair and Family Engineering Night engage our Weaver Lake community and help our staff build stronger relationships with each student and family.
Award-winning excellence
Over the years, we've received numerous awards from Magnet Schools of America (MSA), the national association for magnet and theme-based schools. In 2019, Weaver Lake was once again named a Magnet School of Excellence by MSA, recognizing our demonstrated ability to raise student achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and foster strong partnerships that enhance our STEM theme.
In 2018, we were one of only 21 schools in the U.S. to be named a nationally-certified magnet school by MSA.
